Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter is a young adult story that takes a small spin on the classic story of Alice in Wonderland.  Unlike the original story, the author makes subtle aspects of Alice in Wonderland and places them in a modern world full of unseen zombies.  Alice Bell’s life is not normal. Barely any parts of her life scream of a normal teenage girl, and it can be all brought back because of her father.  What do you do when your father is mental… or is he?  What happens when one night changes the way you see the world? Well, just ask Alice Bell.  When tragedy, friendship, and romance meet monsters, you know its a real good story.  I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars.  I personally loved the story and the way that the author pulls in small details of the original Alice in Wonderland.  But let me warn you, this is not a retelling of Alice in Wonderland.  If you expect this, you will be disappointed. It has its own new and exciting storyline that will draw you in.  There are many surprises that you will not see coming as well.  I liked the writing style, and I found it to be a pretty easy read.  I definitely would recommend this book to anyone who likes young adult books with a hint of monsters.
