If you are fans of the Mortal Instrument Series by Cassandra Clare you will want to continue with the Infernal Devices.  Wondered what it was like for shadowhunters before Clary? Meet Tessa.  Set in the late 1800s, Tessa has nowhere to go. Her mother, father, and now her aunt have passed away.  All that is left is her brother who went overseas for a potential job.  One day she receives a letter with a ticket to move to Victorian England where she will meet up with her brother at last.  Traveling is the easy part for young Tessa.  Little does she know that when she takes one foot off the boat her life as she knows it is over.  Who is the Magister? What do the Dark Sisters want? Terror, drama, and action unfold when she begins to uncover the mystery of her family.  This book will allow fans of shadowhunting a small history behind their world as you follow the events of sixteen-year old Tessa Gray on the journey to find her brother.

Before reading this book, I had finished the first of the Mortal Instrument series a little over a year ago, so I do not fully remember the aspects of how the two series of Mortal and Infernal connect other than that one is earlier in history.  I gave Clockwork Angel 3 stars.  It was a good, fast read, but it did not jump out as much as I had thought it would have,  There are a lot of plot twists at the end which makes me want to go onto the next book pretty soon.  I also liked how things connected at the end and the plot in general.  From what I remember of City of Bones, it seemed like a little bit of the same storyline with different characters.  This made me feel that it was not as good as it could have been, but it was a fun read.  If you like the Mortal Instrument Series definitely start in on the Infernal Devices.
