Saven Denial is a novella you must read between books 2 and 3 in the Saven series by Siobhan Davis.
Synopsis:
“THE TRUTH HURTS
My mother was right to fear me.
I’m an abomination.
And the world should be very afraid.
Sadie has been kidnapped by the Tor, the vindictive alien race who destroyed Thalassic City. As her past, present, and future collides, her worst nightmare looks set to become her shocking new reality.
A deliberate pawn in leader Griselda’s vengeful game, Sadie is horrified to learn the truth about her heritage and the destiny that’s already been mapped out for her. Refusing to cooperate, she risks paying the ultimate price for her defiance.
Love for Logan is her only motivation to stay alive. Saving him is the only thing that matters—the fate of the world depends upon it. While he may never forgive her, she’s determined to protect him. Until her dying breath.
Note from the author: This continues the story from where it left off in Saven Disclosure. This is not an optional novella but an essential read if you don’t want to miss out on important plot developments. ”
My Review:
OMG! So much goes on in this book that I never would have seen coming!!
Even though this is only a novella, I felt like I was reading a whole new installment to the series. The plot picks up where the second book leaves off, and like the author explains, this is definitely an INTEGRAL part of the Saven story.
We get to see a little bit of a shocking backstory that surprised the heck out of me while also seeing a future that isn’t as shocking, but it is fun to see how life turns out. With this being said, she also points out that this book includes the essence of time travel that is and will not be seen in the rest of the series. Personally, I feel like using this aspect was a perfect way to tell the story. I think that without it, so much would be very hard to explain to us readers and our experience of the series would be lacking dramatically.
We get to also see new characters placed into the awesome Siobhan plot twists which was exciting to read. The ending also included a seat-clenching cliffhanger, but just like Saven Disclosure (#2), I can see how it could be crucial to our reading experience. I give this novella a solid 5 out of 5 stars! This story is an intriguing, suspenseful read you won’t want to miss in the series!
…and can I say, this cover is stunning!
