My Review:

I was really surprised with this book.

Like most of the books that I own, I don’t necessarily review the synopses before beginning the books, so when I finally picked this one up, I had no clue what I was getting into. And to be honest, I think that is the best way to get into this book.

It took a chapter or two, but this became a very enticing read.

We first follow a Hispanic foster girl as she struggles with her life’s situation. Financial issues lead her to a too-good-to-be-true offer, and from there, I was hooked all the way through the story.

The five main characters are prodigies that always seem to clash with each other. The development is satisfactory between the start and finish. What is really fun about the story is that about 80% is spent within a 24-hour period.

So in all, this book was a really quick read. I didn’t feel like there was too much going on in the time frame given. The events seemed to follow a nice, smooth flow.

I wasn’t bored at all either. There is conflict throughout the storyline that keeps us sucked into the adventure. Getting to see the differences within the two time eras was fun to explore as well. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. Even though we sort of know how the ending is portrayed, when the time came, I was still surprised in what happened. It was definitely a book that kept me in suspense (especially toward the end).

I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and the two worlds that they get to explore.

I recommend this book for anyone who really enjoys sci-fi/ time travel/ mystery reads. Picking this book up at BEA 2016, I didn’t think I would have enjoyed this as much as I did, but I am really glad that I brought it home with me.
