I have to say that this is probably my favorite box so far! You don’t want to miss this!!
For this month, the Owlcrate theme was right on point for one of my favorite genres in all of YA.. DARKNESS
Wondering what an Owlcrate box is? If you love Young Adult books, this box will deliver one highly anticipated story straight to your front step along with the 3-5 fun bookish goodies that go along with the monthly theme. This box does cost money, but I have been purchasing this subscription box for over a year and a half, and I am very happy with the results. BUT, after unboxing all of the dark objects contained in this month’s package, this is became my favorite one so far *eek* 🙂
So let’s get to the unboxing!
This company does a great job in customizing their boxes to have a unique feel to them. One of the ways that they do this is through the awesome artwork shown on the information card that peeks out at you as soon as you open the box.
(P.S. – For those of you who may be experiencing this unboxing for the first time, this card should be immediately set aside until ALL of the items have been unboxed. There are SPOILERS slithered into the back of the card, so if you want to stay surprised each month, DON’T flip this over)
After the info card and all of the white frilly papers, we get to see the first item in the Darkness box which is…
…a bath fizzer from Da Bomb! But this is no ordinary fizz ball, this one can tell your future. Just ask a question that you’ve been dying to get unbiased advise on, pop this into your bath, and see what the world of YA tells you 🙂 Owlcrate added this into the box for those who love the Raven Cycle series, aka the psychics from 300 Fox Way.
Do you love the Throne of Glass series [Sarah J. Maas]??
This mini candle will flame your taste buds with Celaena’s Cake! This item is from The Melting Library, and trust me, it smells AMAZING! This has the perfect combination for some cozy reading this winter. I love candles, and I love the Throne of Glass series 🙂 It makes me want to drop everything and splurge with the rest of the series.
Now when I saw this next bookish item, I literally almost died! (Of happiness of course 🙂 )
With the new book-to-movie adaptation releasing TODAY, I am anxious to put this cute pencil pouch to use immediately. I read Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children [Ransom Riggs] as soon as it was released back in 2011, I fell head-over-heels with the creepy pictures/story. This is from the Out of Print Shop that has been featured many times in this box with great products. Love it!!
To make the box theme even better (even though it doesn’t seem possible) features the Six of Crow series [Leigh Bardugo].
Featuring one of the most known quotes from the series, “No mourners, no funerals,” this bookmark, designed by Evie Bookish, is perfect to use with the new release of Book 2, Crooked Kingdom, that hit bookstores last week 🙂 I will definitely be featuring this with my copy.
This box even came with a few extra items that you won’t find on the info card which includes…
A copy of Remade which is a collection of stories written by six authors,
a passport of P.C. Cast’s new novel Moon Chosen,
and finally a cute, mini button featuring the design from this month’s info card!
And finally for the big reveal of the book of the month…
Three Dark Crowns (Three Dark Crowns #1) by Kendare Blake!
Synopsis:
” Every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born: three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions.
But becoming the Queen Crowned isn’t solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it’s not just a game of win or lose…it’s life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins. The last queen standing gets the crown.
If only it was that simple. Katharine is unable to tolerate the weakest poison, and Arsinoe, no matter how hard she tries, can’t make even a weed grow. The two queens have been shamefully faking their powers, taking care to keep each other, the island, and their powerful sister Mirabella none the wiser. But with alliances being formed, betrayals taking shape, and ruthless revenge haunting the queens’ every move, one thing is certain: the last queen standing might not be the strongest…but she may be the darkest.”

Like always, there were a few exclusive items that the author slipped inside each of the boxes. This month we get the exclusive letter from the author, a signed bookplate, and an exclusive fortune teller from this book.
This was such a great box with a bunch of amazing bookish items from my favorite series 🙂 I am very happy with this theme.
