It’s that time of the year again!
With back-to-school just a few days away for me, I love to be able to add even more festivities into the mix with one of my favorite read-a-thons: Bout of Books! I am going to be actively trying to find time to pick up some awesome books next week before the stress-load of a hectic nursing semester hits me, SO what better way to end the summer with a bang than with a week of reading.
If you’ve been following my Book Deprived updates the last few weeks, you may already know that I have hit the horrid reading-slump wall of frustration. Yep. I’m currently battling a reader’s worst nightmare.
BUT, let me tell ya, that *knock on wood,* reading slumps usually help me to get out of these types of situations.
So fingers crossed that I will be able to hit a pretty decent goal.
What is a Bout of Books anyways?
For those who may be new to my blog, read the official excerpt below which has a quick summary of the week’s purpose straight from the creators themselves.
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 21st and runs through Sunday, August 27th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 20 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team
I absolutely recommend that if you are new to the idea of read-a-thon-ing or even if you are a veteran, this is the perfect situation to excavate into a stack of books!
What are my goals?
Since this is the first week of school, I probably won’t be able to go crazy with my reading, so I am sticking to a smaller TBR:
- Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody **if I haven’t finished it before the read-a-thon begins. I’m currently only 70 pages in**
- Mask of Shadows (Untitled #1) by Linsey Miller
- Black Bird of the Gallows by Meg Kassel
Who can join?
As you may have read above, EVERYONE is free to join in! What I love about this read-a-thon is that there are NO goals, NO stress, and NO pressure. The whole idea of this week is to READ. That’s it! Just pick up any type of book and read as much as your heart desires.
So, when is this again?
This begins Monday August 21st at 12:00am in your own time zone and runs all the way through Sunday August 27th at 11:59pm. You have an entire week with the perfect excuse to grab a book, relax, and read.
Every day, starting Thursday, I will be updating with daily updates on my progress throughout the week, SO STAY TUNED for those!
What books are you going to be setting aside for the read-a-thon?? Whether you are joining in on the fun or not, you can feel free to leave your personal reading status in the comments at any time
