Eternity’s Echoes by Evan Hirson is a YA Sci-Fi adventure!
“Aaron was a promising software designer with an upcoming company. He shared a quaint house on the outskirts of town with his best friends; another young man and two girls.
They’d known each other since school, and lived together peacefully for years with few problems.
Travis the newcomer however had a dark way about him, and all of Aaron’s attempts to get along with him had failed.
But just as the household began to settle down again, a strange device with a peculiar attitude entered their lives.
Would it fulfill all of their dreams, or instead become a curse?“
To this day, I still can’t tell my feelings on this book.
First off, the content and plot of this book are really interesting. This is a time traveling story with epic plot twists embedded inside. There were moments that I verbally was gasping at what happened, and I think the author does a great job in creating invigorating content in his books.
It’s just the writing that I had trouble with. The story is told from multiple people, and there were many moments that I had to reread the page or paragraph just to figure out who was talking. The perspectives and scenes jump around with blurred transitions between them. I could read three different POVs on one page, yet have no idea that it really happened.
I think the length of the book fits nicely with the story. This is a very quick read, and I finished it in one night.
I gave this book 2 out of 5 stars. I was having trouble deciding between 2 and 3 stars because the content was a well plotted out story (worthy of a 4 star), but the writing style drew me away. So really, I gave this a high 2 stars.
I recommend this book for those who like a unique time traveling science fiction story with tons of plot twists inside a shorter book.
