Every bookworm knows the constant struggle when it comes to bookstores.

No matter what we say or what we do, we always find ourselves consumed by stack after stack of stories just waiting to be explored.

And that’s why this month’s Owlcrate theme is close to out hearts: Lost in the Bookstore.

As always, the first thing I saw was the info card with all the details on each bookish item. I set this aside for now as to not spoil anything.

img_2745

The first bookish item is a fun pair of cozy socks! These little guys are made by Out of Print shop in partner with Underlined publishing!

Next is another item perfect for the chilly season, and that is tea. Spiked with cocoa, mint, and truffle goodness, this concoction is will leave me feeling ready to tackle any stack of books. Made from: The Tea Spot

And what’s tea without a way to brew it?

They were ready for this one when they added a heart-shaped tea strainer into this month’s box! Designed by: Michelle Gray

For many readers, Harry Potter was the story that brought many of them into the world of books and reading. And who doesn’t like revisiting their favorites in the bookstore?

Pride by Ibi Zoboi!

Pride and Prejudice gets remixed in this smart, funny, gorgeous retelling of the classic, starring all characters of color, from Ibi Zoboi, National Book Award finalist and author of American Street.

Zuri Benitez has pride. Brooklyn pride, family pride, and pride in her Afro-Latino roots. But pride might not be enough to save her rapidly gentrifying neighborhood from becoming unrecognizable.

When the wealthy Darcy family moves in across the street, Zuri wants nothing to do with their two teenage sons, even as her older sister, Janae, starts to fall for the charming Ainsley. She especially can’t stand the judgmental and arrogant Darius. Yet as Zuri and Darius are forced to find common ground, their initial dislike shifts into an unexpected understanding.

But with four wild sisters pulling her in different directions, cute boy Warren vying for her attention, and college applications hovering on the horizon, Zuri fights to find her place in Bushwick’s changing landscape, or lose it all.

In a timely update of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, critically acclaimed author Ibi Zoboi skillfully balances cultural identity, class, and gentrification against the heady magic of first love in her vibrant reimagining of this beloved classic.

Shadow of the Fox (Shadow of the Fox #1) by Julie Kagawa!

One thousand years ago, the great Kami Dragon was summoned to grant a single terrible wish—and the land of Iwagoto was plunged into an age of darkness and chaos.

Now, for whoever holds the Scroll of a Thousand Prayers, a new wish will be granted. A new age is about to dawn.

Raised by monks in the isolated Silent Winds temple, Yumeko has trained all her life to hide her yokai nature. Half kitsune, half human, her skill with illusion is matched only by her penchant for mischief. Until the day her home is burned to the ground, her adoptive family is brutally slain and she is forced to flee for her life with the temple’s greatest treasure—one part of the ancient scroll.

There are many who would claim the dragon’s wish for their own. Kage Tatsumi, a mysterious samurai of the Shadow Clan, is one such hunter, under orders to retrieve the scroll…at any cost. Fate brings Kage and Yumeko together. With a promise to lead him to the scroll, an uneasy alliance is formed, offering Yumeko her best hope for survival. But he seeks what she has hidden away, and her deception could ultimately tear them both apart.

With an army of demons at her heels and the unlikeliest of allies at her side, Yumeko’s secrets are more than a matter of life or death. They are the key to the fate of the world itself.

And for the final bookish item hidden on the bottom of the box is one of my favorites of the month: a book clutch.

I didn’t realize until later that this item is made for smaller paperbacks! I originally was going to use it for a pencil case, but now I may use it for both. Made by: Bookworm Boutique
