Are you ready to binge-read another series?!
This round is a little different in that I will be bingeing an entire author rather than a single series. And this author is a YA Bestseller who just recently released the finale in a highly anticipated spin-off series!
If you’ve stuck around the YA Community for any length of time, you will be very familiar with this author and her YA Paranormal, Urban Fantasy world.
Cassandra Clare is mostly known for her Shadowhunters and the many worlds that she has created in this single, epic world! From the Mortal Instruments to the Inferno Devices to the Dark Artifices, you won’t be able to get out of Cassandra’s hole!
Beginning December 30th all the way until April 5th, I will be bingeing the entire Shadowhunter world!
8032 pages. 14 books. 3.5 months. 1 author.
That means every week I will be reading one book, and every Saturday, I will be posting all my bookish thoughts in a book review here on my blog!
You may remember that I have previously reviewed the first two books, but with this read-a-long, I will be discussing my spoiler-y thoughts and share all the epic twists in my reviews! So if you’re dying to reread all 14 books and talk about what’s happening, this is the place to be!
If you aren’t familiar with this series, here is the info from Book 1, City of Bones:
“When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know…”
Published: 27 March 2007
Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry Books
Genre: Young Adult Urban Fantasy
Pages: 485
Books in the Series:
The Mortal Instruments
The Inferno Devices
The Dark Artifices
Novella Mash-Ups
Official Schedule:
You may have noticed that I will be reading the series in a more random order, but if you have seen Cassie’s website, she explains that this order is the world’s chronological order instead of publication order. This way, you won’t be spoiled for events or characters that come up in later books.

I read every single book of hers besides Shadowhunter Academy and Bane Chronicles. They’re good once you get later in the series. City of Bones to City of Lost Souls is okay at best, but her writing style does improve a lot
