If you’ve been following over on my Insta-stories, you may know that I recently put together my very first, reading nook!
And ever since the weather began to turn into the warmer, spring season, I haven’t been able to stop myself from sitting out on my patio and annihilating book after book.
This past week, I was able to finish, DNF, and start a handful of stories, so keep on reading below to see which ones they were!

Truth (Sinful #1) by Trilina Pucci
“Darker and dirtier than ever before. Trilina Pucci brings you an alpha hero, Dominic King, that breaks the mold. Get ready to swoon.
The moment I saw her, I knew I wanted her.
I just didn’t expect to want to keep her, after our one night together.
But she walked away.
She should have known better.
I’m not the kind of man you turn your back on.
I’ll own her.
Consume her.
Make her beg.
What started as one night, will become forever. And I’ll destroy anyone that gets in my way.
Drew Matthews is mine, and I am her King.”

Worship (Sinful #2) by Trilina Pucci
“Book Two, in A Sinful Series, brings you an intense, taboo love story, and an even hotter ALPHA. Meet Luca King- broody, powerful and a man who’s never refused. There are only two reasons a man falls to his knees: prayer and …… And I sure as hell don’t pray. But for this woman, I’d fall on my knees to worship every single, gorgeous part of her body. Claiming her as mine, knowing I shouldn’t want to keep her. Because we’re all wrong. Too complicated, too explosive….too sinful. I want what I can’t have. But I’ll take it anyway because Gretchen Andrews has done the one thing my wife never could….she’s made me love her.“

I ended up DNF-ing this book about 30 pages in. After attempting to re-read the chapters, I still could not get interested in the storyline.

For a Muse of Fire (For a Muse of Fire #1) by Heidi Heilig
“A young woman with a dangerous power she barely understands. A smuggler with secrets of his own. A country torn between a merciless colonial army, a terrifying tyrant, and a feared rebel leader. The first book in a new trilogy from Heidi Heilig.
Jetta’s family is famed as the most talented troupe of shadow players in the land. With Jetta behind the scrim, their puppets seem to move without string or stick a trade secret, they say. In truth, Jetta can see the souls of the recently departed and bind them to the puppets with her blood. But the old ways are forbidden ever since the colonial army conquered their country, so Jetta must never show never tell. Her skill and fame are her family’s way to earn a spot aboard the royal ship to Aquitan, where shadow plays are the latest rage, and where rumor has it the Mad King has a spring that cures his ills. Because seeing spirits is not the only thing that plagues Jetta. But as rebellion seethes and as Jetta meets a young smuggler, she will face truths and decisions that she never imagined—and safety will never seem so far away.
Heidi Heilig creates a world inspired by Asian cultures and French colonialism.”

This was another DNF for me. I wasn’t into the writing style as much as I wanted to be which made it rather hard to get into the story. I did like the idea of using a multi-format to tell the story, but unfortunately, I had to put it down.
The Light Between the Worlds by Laura E. Weymouth
“Five years ago, Evelyn and Philippa Hapwell cowered from air strikes in a London bomb shelter. But that night took a turn when the sisters were transported to another realm called the Woodlands. In a forest kingdom populated by creatures out of myth and legend, they found temporary refuge.

Now, Ev spends her days sneaking into the woods outside her boarding school, wishing for the Woodlands. Overcome with longing, she is desperate to return no matter what it takes.
Philippa, on the other hand, is determined to find a place in this world. She shields herself behind a flawless exterior and countless friends, and moves to America to escape the memory of what was.
But when Evelyn goes missing, Philippa must confront the depth of her sister’s despair and the painful truths they’ve been running from. As the weeks unfold, Philippa wonders if Ev truly did find a way home, or if the weight of their worlds pulled her under.

And for the final DNF of the week, I did get a chunk of the way through this book, but after noticing a lack of a sufficient plot, I ended up putting this one down.

Missing Pieces (White Creek #1) by Tori Fox
“I WAS READY TO START OVER.
At least that’s what I keep telling myself.
Divorced at 26 and driving to Florida to move back in with my parents.
Until my car breaks down in Smalltown USA.
Not the place meant for a city girl.
Until I meet the cocky asshole that is fixing my car.
I should probably stay away but the pull is too strong.
He was just meant to fix my car but I think he might fix my heart.
