This is the first book from this series that I’ve read, and I think I missed a lot of the backstory. The characters seemed to be well-played out, but I felt like I came into the middle of conversation.

The story did progress rather well creating an interesting fantasy world. There are a ton of questions that I would like to go back and discover in the first books.

I gave this one 3 out of 5 stars. The plot was fast-paced, but with the lack of background information, it did take me quite a bit of time to figure out what was going on.

The romance was rapid and engaging. I’d recommend this book for fans of darker, fantasy romance readers.
