Happy New Year Book Lovers!

The Bout of Books Read-a-thon is a matter of hours away, and I am so excited to finally start the new year AND a newly conquered reading slump with so many great books I’ve been wanting to read these last few months!

So for those of you who may be new to the Bout of Books Read-a-thon, here is the official blurb:

lAdsM9H“The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly Rubidoux Apple. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 6th and runs through Sunday, January 12th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, Twitter chats, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 27 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team”

What do I plan on reading?

For this round, I’ll be switching it up. While I do have books that I need to complete for upcoming blog tours, I also want to leave the list open for the picking!

If you follow me through my Instagram Stories, you may have seen the year-long reading challenge that I came up with on a whim. While browsing through my shelves, I realized that I have a TON of books I’ve been wanting to read but just haven’t picked up yet. Between the great titles such as Renegades by Marissa Meyer, Scythe by Neil Shusterman, and so many more, I just couldn’t come to a decision.

So, I came up with the idea of the #2020RainbowShelvesChallenge. Whenever I have an open slot for my own personal reading, I will take to my shelves for the answer. Since I have my books organized by color, starting in order with red, I will grab the first unread book on my shelf and finally read it!

This way I’ll be able to annihilate my 2020 TBR and be able to finally read all the great stories I’ve been hearing so much about!

Since I don’t know how many books I’ll ACTUALLY get to, I won’t be choosing that portion of my TBR until the day-of. BUT, I do have an idea of the ‘required‘ readings I’ll need to get through this next week:

  • Confessions of a Naughty Nanny (The Baileys #6) by Piper Rayne
  • Twice as Sexy (formally known as Sexy Hers) by Carly Phillips
  • Between Now and Always (Forever Trilogy #3) by Dylan Allen
  • Release by Aly Martinez
  • Fire Dancer by Catherine Jones Payne
  • What Lies in Paradise by Leah Cupps
  • The Fellowship of the Ring (Lord of the Rings #1) by J.R.R. Tolkien

Meaning, if I can get to them ALL, I’ll be able to accomplish at least 7 books in 7 days!

Who can join the read-a-thon?

Everyone! No matter what your reading preferences are, your favorite genre, or how many pages you plan on completing, this read-a-thon is a NO stress, NO pressure week. Whether you plan to read magazines, graphic novels, chapter books, or articles, feel free to join in on the fun!

So, when does this EPIC week begin?

This begins Monday January 6th at 12:00am in your time zone and runs all the way through Sunday January 12th at 11:59pm.

Beginning this Tuesday after the start of the read-a-thon, I will be updating y’all on my daily progress throughout the entire week. This does mean there will not be a Recent Reads post this Sunday, but instead, a Wrap Up will be posted following the conclusion of the week!

What’s your reading goal?? Whether you are joining in on the fun or not, you can feel free to leave your personal reading status in the comments at any time.
