Happy Book Birthday to this BEAUTY!

The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson is the finale in the young adult fantasy trilogy of a princess, assassin, and prince who may or may not be what they seem…

Lia and Rafe have escaped Venda and the path before them is winding and dangerous – what will happen now? This third and final book in The Remnant Chronicles is not to be missed.

My Review:

Oh. My. God. Oh My God. OH MY GOD!

This book left me so stunned I literally had no clue how to proceed in life. For me, this finale left me completely shocked (in the best way, I promise)!

Mary E. Pearson threw us in for a tumbling effect down a mountain of awe. The beginning started out a little slower than I expected, but how she introduced us back into the story was essential. Otherwise, we would have been thrown into a windstorm of epic proportions. Even though the start of this book was calm, we were prepared for the storm ahead. As the book progressed, the plot became extremely captivating (even more than Books 1 and 2).

Between epic breakups and shocking conspiracies, this finale brought together my love for this series. I was never one to really have a favorite series (other than the obvious Harry Potter). I mean, I LIKED certain series, but never to the point where I was down-right in love with it. Until now

Whether you like fantasy stories of kingdoms and battles or romantic love stories or epic action scenes, this book is perfect for all spectrums. We get to venture into the realm of war, love, and sacrifice to the point where you feel like you are a part of the story itself. The writing sucks you in and leaves you breathless.

No joke.

After finishing the final sentence on the final page of this book, I literally couldn’t believe what I read. So, I ended up re-reading the final two pages, not once, but three times for my brain to get in line with my jaw-dropped heart.

I literally looked up for the closed cover and silently screamed that this was the BEST BOOK EVER! I wanted more! Until the last few pages, I was left with a sinking feeling that the end was going to be unsatisfactory in what I wanted for the main character, but Mary gave me the everlasting peace within the very last sentence (688 pages later). AHHHHHH!!! (more silent screaming)

So if you haven’t guessed yet, I gave this book the very highest 5 out of 5 stars that is bookishly possible. I went on such an emotional rollercoaster along with all of the characters. The writing was beautiful and shocking. Especially towards the end, I was screaming at the book not believing what I was reading. If you were to see my reading notes for this book you would be able to see a literal roller coaster on my thoughts. So many twists and turns really drive you into the words. So many beginnings and ends. Heartbreaks and romance. Utterly speechless.

There are so many things about this book that I feel like I’ve missed telling you guys. All I can truly say is that you NEED to read this series. I never thought a book would be so beautifully destructive to me, but The Beauty of Darkness lives up to its well-deserved name.

ENJOY 🙂
