My Thoughts

If you love YA Fantasy stories with a unique magic system, a fast-paced plot, and a lovely cast of characters, I highly recommend picking this one up.

This is a story of friendship-turned-romance amongst a well-written fantasy world of phantoms and power, and is definitely a world I’ve never seen before. If you are looking for an intro in the more adult, epic fantasy genre, I think this one would be a great stepping stone into the harsher tones and vast expanse adult stories tend to cover.

It’s been awhile since I found a journey story that I didn’t mind following along. I feel like this book was a great balance of character and plot-driven elements that harnessed a beautiful beginning to their magic system.

The ending left me wanting so much more (warning: cliffhanger), and I am so excited to see where this series takes me! A well-deserved 4 out of 5 stars from me.
